There is only one complete, homogenous, fully-working FOSS Unix desktop, and it's Xfce.
Everything else is either half-done (if that), or based on a profound lack of understanding of how this stuff is supposed to work, or it's a fork of a dead project. Or some combination of the above.
I am honestly not sure if I am trolling or not.
P.S. I really like your work, Jesse. You're an inspiration. Please keep it up.
@fishidwardrobe @lproven True, it's not always an indication of the state the fork is in. But the way in which desktop forks tend to get abandoned is telling.
GNOME 2 didn't just fade away, the original develops fled from it like a sinking ship (that they'd punched the holes in) and claimed it couldn't be restored.
KDE did something similar with KDE3.
It wasn't that either team lost interest, they felt the projects were in such bad shape it was easier to start from scratch than fix them.
